The Faulkner County Retired Teachers Association will hold its first meeting of the 2012-2013 year at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, in the Activity Center of Conway First Baptist Church, 1719 Robinson Ave. The program will be presented by James McAlister, retired engineer, author and freelance writer, on the topic of “Teacher Appreciation.”
Anyone who has retired from any position in education is encouraged to become a member of FCRTA. It is a great way for retirees who have worked in education to keep up with community needs, legislation, insurance and other areas of interest.
Members will have an opportunity to sign up for a fall field trip and to volunteer to participate in mock interviews for student teachers, a joint project with the University of Central Arkansas Department of Education.
FCRTA meets every third Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., except in November (on the second Tuesday) and December (when the meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. for a luncheon). Each meeting features a program and refreshments. Host/Hostess Chair for the September meeting is Julia Fraser.
Membership is open to all levels of school educators including support personnel, spouses and other interested persons. Guests are always welcome.
Refreshments will be served.
