Edward Waddle, who received his degree form the Arkansas State Teachers College in 1936, has notified campus friends he has accepted a teaching position at Kodiak, Alaska. He will begin work Sept. 7.

Winners of cash prizes in the essay contest conducted by the Faulkner County Historical Society for Faulkner County high school students Karen Larson, honorable mention, Margo Dunaway, third; Raymond Simon, second; and Gary Strain, first. Young Strain’s article on the construction of the railroad tunnel north of Conway included a picture of the work crew in front of the uncompleted structure.

Mark Ballheimer won the weekly competition in Cadron Valley Country Club’s Men’s Golf Association yesterday with a nine-hole net score of 30.

Sandra Carter, LPN, celebrated her 20th year as head nurse for the Conway Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic this month. A Mount Vernon resident, she began her career at Conway Regional Medical Center in labor and delivery before becoming a private practice nurse for Dr. Paul McChristian.
