Erin Shaw was recently named as the 2014 Arkansas Association of Instructional Media’s Library Media Specialist of the Year. Her leadership in media and instructional technology is evident. She has taken on the responsibility of facilitating job embedded professional development for Greenbrier Middle School which has led to more effective planning and facilitation of content area research projects and the collaboration between content teachers and our library media specialist.
Shaw takes great pride in ensuring that students’ wishes and needs in regard to media and literature are met by accessing community resources and strategically purchasing high interest texts. Shaw is also making great efforts in expanding and sharing her expertise outside of Greenbrier Middle School. She is not only a teacher of Greenbrier Middle School students and teachers, but also for undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Central Arkansas. Shaw is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Memphis in the Instructional Design and Technology program.
GMS and district administration honored her with a reception, and she officially received her award from AAIM at the awards luncheon on March 31 in Fort Smith, Ark.
