Award-Winning Theta Mu Wins Regional Awards

The ladies of Theta Mu Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated are bringing back multiple awards from the South Central Regional AKA conference in Dallas, Texas.

The ladies were awarded for their academic and community service endeavors as well as their stepping. This year marked the fourth year in a row the ladies were named champions of the AKApollo Greek Show.

Among other awards, Rachel Parker was elected as a member of the International Nominating Committee. Parker also won the Faye B. Bryant Undergraduate Excellence Award, a $1,000 scholarship and the Shirley Fisher Math and Science Award.

Theta Mu won the Outstanding Chapter Scrapbook for creating a memorable book of record, highlighting work done on campus and across the city of Conway.

Seven chapter members were recognized for the GPAs: Rachel Parker had a 4.0 for the Fall Semester; Carla Finley and Crystal Owens were recognized for having a 3.5-3.9 GPA for the Fall Semester; Shimilya Curtis, Ashley Bizzell, Brittney Jackson and Jasmyn Wilkins were recognized for having a 3.0-3.49 GPA for the Fall Semester.

The chapter is excited to bring back these exemplary awards to Conway, and the campus of UCA, and are grateful for the community’s ongoing support as they continue providing service to all mankind.
