Charges pending in attempted murder case

Charges are expected to be filed this week against a Conway woman accused of attempting to suffocate her infant child.

“We intend to file charges this week,” Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Carol Crews said Monday.

Shannon Delaine Heather, 31, was arrested Sept. 22 after the Conway Police Department was called out to a residence at 211 Club Lane in reference to Heather attempting to suffocate her 7-month-old child.

Booking records show she is currently being held in the county jail in lieu of a $250,000 bond.

Circuit Judge Charles “Ed” Clawson Jr. said the court will appoint an attorney to represent Heather once charges are formally filed against her.

“You don’t have an attorney right now,” he said in Faulkner County Circuit Court on Monday, “But, I will remind you, you have the right to remain silent … an attorney will be provided when charges are filed.”

A status hearing regarding Heather’s pending charges was scheduled for 9 a.m. Nov. 6.
