Conway woman suspected of attempting to kill infant child

A 31-year-old Conway woman was arrested Friday night after police were told she attempted to suffocate her infant child.

According to a Conway Police Department incident report, officers were called out to a residence at 211 Club Lane in reference to Shannon Delaine Heather attempting to suffocate her 7-month-old child.

Heather’s husband called in the complaint, notifying police “his wife, Shannon Heather, had attempted to suffocate their child,” the report states.

A BOLO “Be on the lookout” was issued for Heather. CPD soon “located her not far from the address of the incident.”

“I went to that location and spoke with Shannon,” the responding officer wrote in his report. “After speaking with her, she was arrested and charged with Criminal Attempted to Commit Murder in the Second Degree.”

Heather is currently being held in the county jail in lieu of a $30,000 bond.

Spokesman LaTresha Woodruff said CPD continues to investigate this incident.

“This case is currently still under investigation,” she said Monday. “We will release more information when it’s appropriate.”
