Police Beat 7/31/14: Theft, burglary and the Lizard Commander

Among the incidents recently reported by the Conway Police Department:

• Misdemeanor warrant arrest at the 1000 block of Robins Street

Police responded to a domestic disturbance and made contact with people who said a mentally unstable man was causing problems.

Police talked to the man, who claimed his roommate murdered a guest in the back bedroom of their residence. The officer checked out the room in question and found no evidence of blood or a murder. The man said the body must have disappeared with the rapture.

As the conversation went on, the man told the officer he was in the military for several years and attained the rank of Lizard Commander before retiring. Police found that the man had a warrant out for his arrest and took him to jail, where he was to be screened by Counseling Associates.

• Theft at 1510 Mill St.

A Conway woman reported Tuesday that someone cut the lock and entered her storage unit at Self Storage. She reported a jewelry box was missing.

The box and its contents were valued at $450.

• Breaking or entering at the 1000 block of Jersey Street

A resident reported that someone stole her purse from her vehicle while it was parked at her residence. The purse contained $300 cash.

• Commercial burglary at 713 Oak Street

A Little Rock man reported Wednesday that someone stole $14,910 worth of restaurant equipment from a building he was renting.

• Theft at 1655 Dave Ward Drive

A Conway man reported Wednesday that a man he knows stole his cell phone while they were both at the Gulf gas station on Dave Ward Drive.
