Police Beat 6/10/14: Burglars, shoplifters and the criminally mischievous

Among the incidents recently reported by the Conway Police Department:

Residential burglary at the 1400 block of South Donaghey

A resident reported Monday that someone entered his apartment and stole a television, laptop and a video game console. Total value was $850.

Criminal mischief on Colonial Drive

A homeowner reported Monday that someone drove a vehicle through her yard and damaged her fence and a flower pot. Damage was estimated at $145.

Shoplifting at 1155 Skyline Drive

A loss prevention employee at Walmart reported Monday that a woman was walking through the store collecting merchandise and hiding it in her hoodie sweatshirt. She and a man who was with her attempted to leave but were confronted by loss prevention, and the woman started walking back through the store dropping off all the items she had picked up. The couple then got in their vehicle and left. Both of them were later arrested on unrelated charges, according to a police report.

Breaking or entering at the 1900 block of Arkansas Avenue

A resident reported Monday that someone broke into his Chevrolet Tahoe and stole a new 24-inch wheel, a subwoofer, a speaker box, an amplifier and a CD player. Total value was $2,820. A police officer found a clothes hanger with one end bent into a “U” shape, possibly used to pull the door handle from the inside, according to a police report.

Breaking or entering on Sapphire Drive

A resident reported Monday that when he entered his vehicle, he found that the glove box and center console were open and had been rummaged through. Several items were missing, and he was not sure whether he had locked the vehicle, he reported. Among the items missing were a GPS, camera, insurance and registration and an iPod. Total value was $251.
