Black Friday brings multiple reports of shoplifting at Conway stores

Posted: December 2, 2013 - 3:44pm

At least four instances of shoplifting were reported to the Conway Police Department during Black Friday shopping at local stores.

Of the four incident reports obtained Monday by the Log Cabin Democrat, three occurred at Walmart stores — two at 3900 Dave Ward Drive and one at 1155 Skyline Drive — and one occurred at Belk’s in the Conway Commons.

Officers arrested a 44-year-old Greenbrier woman, around 2:51 a.m. Friday, after a store loss prevention employee alerted police he witnessed the woman committing the act.

Police made contact with the woman, and discovered two pair of gloves and one pair of sunglasses in her purse. The items, valued at $68, were returned to the store.

The suspect was arrested and transported to the Faulkner County jail.

Officers cited two white, teenage males, ages 16 and 17, for shoplifting at Walmart at 1155 Skyline Drive around 10:38 p.m. Thursday.

A loss prevention employee informed police she observed the two teens conceal items and attempt to leave the store.

Police contacted the on-call juvenile officer who advised the teens be cited, and released to their parents. According to the incident report, the teens attempted to steal an FM transmitter, valued at $48.88.

Police also arrested two patrons at the Walmart at 3900 Dave Ward Drive.

A 32-year-old Little Rock man was arrested, around 9:17 p.m. Thursday, after police discovered items, including nail polish, concealed in his jacket. The man was cited for theft of property, and transported to the Faulkner County jail.

Less than two hours prior, around 7:50 p.m., officers arrested a 25-year-old Bigelow woman after she was seen, by a loss prevention officer, attempting to leave the store with stolen items. The woman was cited for theft of property and transported to the Faulkner County jail.
