A Morrilton man, accused in the Father’s Day shooting death of 23-year-old Quenton Alexander, is due in court Monday.
Lee Foster, 27, pleaded not guilty to charges of capital murder, first-degree battery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a certain person on July 8, for his alleged role in the June 16 double-shooting at the Motel 6 at 1105 Skyline Drive.
Foster is scheduled to appear before Faulkner County Circuit Judge Mike Maggio.
Foster, currently being held without bond, was arrested in Morrilton on June 20. Sierra Cook, 18, was also arrested June 20, and has been charged with hindering the apprehension of Foster.
Cook, currently held in lieu of a $250,000 bond, pleaded not guilty to the charge July 8. Cook’s attorney, Frank Shaw, has argued to the court that his client’s bond is “extremely high” for a class B felony, which is punishable in Arkansas by five to 20 years in prison.
Court documents show a motion for bond reduction was filed Thursday.
Cook is also scheduled in court Monday before Judge Maggio.
Foster is being represented by a public defender, although one has not been assigned to him. Deputy Public Defender Karen Walker Knight represented Foster in his last court appearance, but stated the case had not been assigned to a specific defense attorney.
The fatal motel double-shooting, Foster is alleged to be responsible for, occurred around 1:30 a.m. June 16. Officers responded to the scene around 1:39 a.m., and found the surviving victim shot in the side.
Police also located Alexander shot to death, lying beside a car in the parking lot.
Alexander and Foster were related, and there had been “an ongoing dispute between these two individuals,” Chief of Police A.J. Gary said in June, although specifics of the feud were not disclosed.
“Foster came to Conway, we believe, for the purposes of killing Quenton Alexander,” he said. “We’re happy to say that his in jail, along with someone who was assisting him.”
If convicted of capital murder, a class Y felony, Foster could face 10 to 40 years or life in prison.
