William A. Hutchinson, 39, son of Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, was involved in a two-vehicle crash that resulted in injury at the intersection of East Oak Street and First Avenue around 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, according to a report released to the Log Cabin Democrat on Thursday by Conway Police Department.
The driver of the second vehicle, Christopher E. Dickson, 38, of Conway, was med-flighted to Baptist Hospital in Little Rock for injuries. His condition was unknown Thursday.
Hutchinson was treated and released at the scene.
The CPD report indicates Dickson failed to yield the right of way.
Hutchinson, of Rogers, was traveling eastbound on Oak Street in a 2013 GMC Yukon when Dickson attempted to turn left from First Avenue to travel west on Oak in a small 1995-model Mazda truck.
Hutchinson’s SUV struck the truck in the inside travel lane after Hutchinson attempted to swerve and avoid collision, according to the report.
As Hutchinson’s SUV swerved left, the vehicle laterally shifted all its weight to the right side.
This action caused the SUV to “climb the front side of the truck” upon impact and turn over to the passenger side.
No passengers were reported in either vehicle. No blood, breath, urine or toxicology tests were required of either driver.
