Miss Moneta Phillips entertained a group of friends Monday evening with a party on the lawn at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Phillips on Center Street. Games were played and dainty refreshments were served.

Verlon (Scott) Lawrence opened Friday the Conoco service station on Harkrider Street formerly operated by Kelsey Brady.

Lawrence formerly was employed at Kerby’s Conoco station.

Brandi Reynolds, 5, of Conway was recently crowned Enchanted Beauty Systems Little Miss August and Little Miss August Overall Supreme Queen in her age division for girls up to age 10.

She is a daughter of Vickie Reynolds and a granddaughter of Wendell White, both of Conway.

The 66th Annual Faulkner County Fair Parade Grand Marshal is Stormy Smith of Conway.

Smith was named as grand marshal at the weekly meeting of the Faulkner County Fair Parade Board on Wednesday at Western Sizzlin.

Honorary grand marshals are Wayne Longing, Mary Beard, Theo Jones Jr., Ron Hill, Jackie Lawrence and Frank Lambert.

Rural Fire Program to host fire show Oct. 28

The Arkansas Forestry Commission is hosting the annual Rural Fire Protection (RFP) Fire Show on Saturday, October 28, in Greenbrier at 20 Industrial Boulevard from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. All Arkansas firefighters and families are invited to attend the annual event held to honor fire crews for their partnership in the suppression and prevention of wildfires.
