Mrs. Mollie Hunt Cole, widow of the late W.D. Cole, pioneer merchant of Conway, today quietly celebrated her 90th birthday, surrounded by members of her family here.

A dessert party was held Wednesday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M.M. Satterfield, honoring Miss Pamela Phifer and Lynn Woolard and their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Phifer and Dr. and Mrs. H.I. Woolard of Little Rock.

Co-hostesses were Dr. and Mrs. Charles A. Archer Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stegall and the Satterfields.

Two Vilonia students received degrees at the summer commencement exercises last week at Arkansas State University at Jonesboro.

Cara Hopp was awarded a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling and Cynthia L. Sellers was awarded a bachelor of arts degree.

(2004)

A minor fire occurred in a battery back-up system of a building at Acxiom Corp. at 10:58 p.m. Friday.

According to Conway fire Marshal Randy Freeman, a smoldering battery caused electricity to arc, which led to a minor fire. The building was not damaged.
