Mrs. Robert W. Mosley and Mrs. J.J. Kane were hostesses at the Country Club Friday afternoon at the regular Bridge party. The Bridge tables were placed on the wide veranda and at the conclusion of the series of games the hostesses served sandwiches, cake and punch.

Bill Abernathy was named Tuesday night by the Board of Education as principal at Conway Junior High School. He comes here from Oden, Ark., where he has been principal and basketball coach for five years. Abernathy succeeds John W. Coleman, who resigned to take a teaching and coaching job at Fort Defiance, Ariz.

Sharon Jiskra fired a 32 to win low net honors in Women’s Golf Association play Tuesday at the Conway Country Club. Fritz Shock was second with a 34. Julie Jiskra edged Cordia Mote for third with a 35. Mote had a 35.5.

Hendrix College was named a “Best Buy” in the 2005 edition of The Fiske Guide to Colleges, which reviews more than 300 of the country’s “best and most interesting colleges and universities.”

Hendrix was among 23 private colleges and universities that qualified as a “Best Buy” based on the quality of academic offerings in relation to the cost of attendance.
