Aquakids fare well in state long course meet

Thirty-three Hendrix Aquakids swimmers combined for 102 personal bests at the state long course championships at Fort Smith.


Two swimmers even achieved rare “AAAA” times, AJ Mainord 100 and 200 breast, and 200 individual medley, and Ty Wingfield 50 and 100 freestyle, and 50 butterfly.

Team records were set by Brooklyn Anderson, 50 back; Wingfield, 50 fly and 200 free; AJ Mainord, 100 and 200 breast, 100 and 200 fly, 200 and 400 IM; Rieth, 200 free and 200 back; Emily Holman, Elizabeth Griffin, Georgia Wilder, and Sara Holman, 400 freestyle and 200 medley relay; Sydney Wingfield, Amanda Crnic, Elam Fulton, and Casey Ragsdale, 200 and 400 freestyle relay, Adrien Brite, Neel Patel, Ethan Marotte, and Ty Wingfield, 200 and 400 freestyle relay, and 200 medley relay, and Aaron Rieth, Jackson Wiedower, Mainord, and Ethan Smith, 200 and 400 freestyle, and 200 medley relay.

Three swimmers qualified for zone and sectional competitions: AJ Mainord, 100 breast, 200 breast, 100 fly, 200 fly, 200 IM and 400 IM; Aaron Rieth: 100 free, 200 free, 400 free, and 100 back; Wingfield: 50 free, 100 free, 400 free, 50 back, 100 back, 200 back, 200 IM and 50 fly, Sectional qualifiers was Mainord: 100 breast, 200 breast, and 200 IM.

These swimmers made finals and placed in the top eight in the state:  Samantha West, 50 and 100 breast, 100 back, and 200 IM, Anderson 100 free, 50 and 100 fly, and 200 IM; Adrien Brite 50, 100, 200, and 400 free, and 200 IM;  Amanda Crnic 400 free; Holman, 50 and 100 free, 50 and 100 fly, 50 and 100 breast and 200 IM;  Grace Karl 100 and 200 breast;  Mainord 100 back; John Michael Mainord, 50 and 100 breast; Casey Ragsdale, 400 IM; Sydney Wingfield 50 free, 100 and 200 back, Ethan Marotte 50 free and 50 breast; Simon Marotte, 50 back;, Sarah Grace Meek, 800 free; Rieth 100 and 200 back, and 100 fly, Wiedower, 200 breast, and Ethan Winningham 50 fly and 50 back.

Top 3 Finishers for the state meet from the Aquakids included:

First place: Anderson 50 and 100 back, Mainord 100 and 200 breast, 100 and 200 fly, 200 and 400 IM; West 50 and 200 free, Wingfield 50 and 100 back and 200 free, 200 freestyle relay team members Brite, Ethan Marotte, Patel and Ty Wingfield.

Second place: Rieth 400 free; West 100 free; and Ty Wingfield, 50 and 100 free, 200 IM, 400 Free and 200 medley relay team of Brite, Ethan Marotte, Patel and Wingfield, 200 freestyle relay members Rieth, Wiedower, Ethan Smith, and Mainord.

Third place: Brite 100 back; William Bryden, 50 free, Rieth, 100 and 200 freestyle, 200 fly, and Ty Wingfield, 50 fly, 200 free relay team of Sydney Wingfield, Amanda Crnic, Fulton, and Ragsdale, and 200 medley relay team of Rieth, Wiedower, Mainord, and Smith.

Aaron Rieth dropped 16 seconds in the 400 freestyle.
