The Conway Hatchery, owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Brewster, has moved from the Terry Dairy Company building on Chestnut Street to the building at 1030 Front St., recently vacated by the Conway Bottling Company.

50 years ago


Capt. James H. Clark, commanding officer of the National Guard Unit here, called roll as the Conway convoy prepared to leave early today for Ft. Polk, La., for two weeks of active duty training. The unit, Co. C, 2d Btn. 153rd Inf., will stop at Bastrop, La, en route to Ft. Polk and at Star City on its return home.

Amy Pearce, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Pearce of Vilonia, will be a cast member in the Summer Theatre workshop presentation “Dracula: The Musical” staged by students at Arkansas State University-Beebe.

The Vilonia Razorbacks were league and postseason tournament champions of the 9-10 Cal Ripken League, finishing the season at 17-0. Team members are Kaden Jaco, Preston Foreman, Hunter Floyd, Cody Paladino, Chad Guffie, Trevor Martin, Chase Fox, Blake Gary, Hunter Henderson, Brandon Elmenhurst, Ryan Shock and Josh Davis, and coaches Doug Martin and David Henderson.

The University of Central Arkansas got its revenge on No. 7 McNeese when the Sugar Bears defeated the Cowgirls 3-1 on Friday in Southland Volleyball Tournament quarterfinals at the Dugan Wellness Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.
