Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission Approves Three Historical Markers

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission has approved applications historical markers in Faulkner, Izard and Saline counties, ACWSC Chairman Tom Dupree announced.

• Cadron in the Civil War, sponsored by the Faulkner County Historical Society and to be placed at Cadron Settlement Park at Conway in Faulkner County

• Wild Haws in the Civil War, sponsored by the Izard County Historical and Genealogical Society and to be placed at the junction of County Roads 9 and 57 at LaCrosse in Izard County

• Saline County in the Civil War, sponsored by the Saline County History and Heritage Society and to be placed on the grounds of the Saline County Courthouse in Benton.

Through the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission Historical Marker Program, the ACWSC works with local partners to help tell the stories of how the Civil War affected communities around the state. The Commission hopes that there will be at least one marker in each of the state’s 75 counties by the end of the commemoration in 2015. To date, 88 markers in 51 counties have been approved.
