Cows will not be permitted to graze on the courthouse lawn, County Judge W.M. Harper said today.

Judge Harper found a cow staked on the east lawn as he came to his office today and the first item of business he transacted was to issue the “no grazing” order.

Mrs. W.B. Thomas has purchased Kay’s Fashion Center at 1051 Front St.

She will change the name of the shop to La Jo’s Fashion Shop. Mrs. Thomas bought the business from Mrs. Clyde Godwin. Women’s ready-to-wear clothing is featured.

Frank Rivers of Conway broke the course record for the 44-49 age group Saturday night at the “That Dam Night Run” 5K race at Lake DeGray State Park.

Rivers was 10th overall and set the age-group record at 17:13. The old mark was 18:47 by Phil Lassiter of Hot Springs last year.

Barry Rivers was sixth in the 15-19 division in 17:58.

Taylor Gault of Conway won the outstanding camper award recently at the Sugar Bear basketball camp.

Gault will be a sixth-grader this fall but camp director Checola Seals suggested that she compete in the division for grades 7-9.

She also was the Knock Out champion and a member of the camp’s all-star team.

Gault is a daughter of Kenneth and T.K. Gault of Conway.


City considers rezonings, more

The Conway City Council will consider rezoning properties, reclassifying a city position and rebidding a project during its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Russell L. “Jack” Roberts District Court Building.
