Mrs. Floyd Phillips and Mrs. Elvin McCarty entertained the Conway girls softball team last night with a midnight swimming party and a watermelon feast at Kuykendall’s. Miss Dorothy Phillips of Little Rock was a special guest.

Congressman Wilbur Mills met with Kenny Scott of Conway during a reception in the State Caucus room in Washington this week. Young Scott is a finalist in the 13th annual National Teen Age Safe Driving Roadeo being held in Washington.

Veva Carr was recently hired as the manager of Sunmark Staffing Services, a temporary help and staff contracting service, available in Conway and Little Rock. Sunmark is a division of Sunmark Cos. She is a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology.

Matthew Gussberry of Conway, who was seeded No. 1, recently won the boys 16 singles novice championship at the Genesis Cancer Center junior tennis championships at Hot Springs.

Gussberry, a member of the Conway High tennis team, defeated Matthew Jolly in the title match, 6-4, 7-6.

He is a son of Monica Gussberry of Conway and is coached by Harold Henderson and Barry Brady.
