Filtered water from the new 750,000-gallon “clear well,” just completed as a part of the $140,000 PWA waterworks improvement project, flowed into Conway city mains for the first time today.

The new basin will almost quadruple the city’s supply of filtered water, according to Beverly Ryan, assistant to M.Z. Bair, engineer for the project.

50 years ago

Three Conway students participated in the fifth annual Art Camp held last week at the University of Arkansas.

They were Kit Groth, Janice Nixon and Marshall Smith.

Kathy Henze of Conway is participating in the U of A’s seventh Music Camp this week and she was named to the camp orchestra which will present a concert Friday night.

25 years ago

(1989)

Amy Pearce, daughter of David and Denisce Pearce, and Malina English, daughter of Max and Linda English, all of Conway, were among 48 Arkansas high school students who recently spent two weeks studying television production, journalism and computers the Academic Enrichment for the Gifted in the summer (AEGIS) at John Brown University in Siloam Springs.

The Leather Brothers YSAC softball team recently placed first and were undefeated (12-0) in the 6 and under co-ed division. Team members are Lindy Dather, McCall Dail, Dawson Schrekenhofer, Matti Fraley, Trenton Schrekenhofer, Benjamin Thompson, Attaleigh Jones, Bailey Crozier, Logan Rolleigh, Jack Pillow, and coaches Brian Schrekenhofer and Mike Dail.
