The Rev. Fred I. Cairns Jr., pastor of the First Presbyterian Church for the past year and a half, will teach part time in the department of religion at Hendrix College during the 1939-40 session, Dr. J.H. Reynolds, president announced today.

50 years ago


Mr. and Mrs. G.C. Reynolds of Geenbrier observed their 68th wedding anniversary last Monday.

They were married July 6, 1896, at Republican.

Mr. Reynolds had one observation about the length of his marriage, “We never had a fuss,” he said.

Angela Kitchens, Byrd Evelym Shock, Dee Morrell and Debbie Kelley teamed to fire a 37 to win the Women’s Golf Associations’s weekly scramble at the Conway Country Club.

Kaye Lord, Jan Watson, Virginia Brown and Dunnie Crafton finished second with a 39. Cordia Mote, Nina Smith and Janet Kordsmeier were third with a 41.

There were 88 Conway Christian Elementary School students who made all A’s for the second-semester grading period.


City considers rezonings, more

The Conway City Council will consider rezoning properties, reclassifying a city position and rebidding a project during its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Russell L. “Jack” Roberts District Court Building.
