W.F. Henry, farmer living one and a half miles south of Mt. Vernon, brought to the Log Cabin Democrat office today a small size Bermuda onion with eight smaller onions grown to it.

50 years ago

(1964)

Two convoys of military vehicles will pass through Conway today, transporting servicemen to Ft. Chaffee for two weeks of summer training.

The first line will have 75 vehicles and the second will have 80 vehicles.

The convoys will travel Highway 65 to Conway from North Little Rock then continue on Highway 64.

25 years ago

(1989)

Rob Robinette, one of the mainstays of the Conway High School pitching staff for three years, has signed to play baseball for Westark Community College.

Robinette, a left-hander, was 5-0 during Conway’s Class AAAA state championship team last season, and had an ERA of 1.94.

(2004)

A hot air balloon floated lazily in the skies on Conway on Saturday. The rainy weather abated over the weekend and allowed for various outdoor activities.

New cases of West Nile Virus Disease

The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are urging people to take steps to prevent West Nile virus infections. Outbreaks of West Nile virus disease occur each summer in the United States. The first two cases of 2017 were identified in Arkansas late last week.
