I may speak in different languages. I may have the gift of prophecy. I may understand all and have all knowledge, and I may have faith so great I can move mountains. But even with all these things, if I do not have love, then I am nothing. I may give away everything I have, and I may even give my body as an offering to be burned. But I gain nothing if I do not have love (1 Corinthians 13:1-3).
All of our lives we are going to go through trials, some bad and some not so bad. Every day we are going to meet people fat and skinny, tall and short, black or white or other races. Now can we love them because of who they are or because of how they look? Every day we are going to agree with someone and we are going to disagree with some people. All I’m trying to say is we are spirit living in a flesh body that’s made of dirt from the ground and we all are going to make mistakes and when we do are you going to continue to love that person or are you going to hate them for the rest of your life? We must love one another with the love of God. After all, for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (John 3:16). It doesn’t matter how bad they may have hurt you, you must continue to love them. You don’t have to love the lifestyle they are living but you must love them. I’ve found out loving others is so easy when you have Jesus Christ in your life. When you have Christ living in your heart you forgive people right away and you won’t have to think about it, you will just do it and continue in your “love walk.”
Some people will hold on to unforgiveness, and what that does is make them a bitter person and their life will never please God because of their bitterness and their lack of love for others. How many of you know that your bitterness against others can make you sick in your body? So try to love as Jesus asks us to do. It doesn’t matter how you feel just love one another.
I want to close with these few words: on TV and in the media just about all you hear about is gay rights and gay marriage, I don’t agree with that. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 says, “Those who sin sexually, worship idols, take part in adultery, those who are male prostitutes or men who have sexual relations with other men, those who steal, are greedy, get drunk, lie about others, or rob — these people will not inherit God’s kingdom.”
Like I said, I don’t agree with same-sex marriage, but I still have to love you. I don’t want anyone to think I’m looking down my nose at anyone or that I think I’m better than anyone but I agree with what the Word of God says, not only same-sex marriage but the other stuff that He talks about in the Bible. AMEN.
