The Gas House Gang finished the Teachers College men’s softball league in first place. Trailing this team were the Independents, the Bear Cats and the Agriculture Sluggers.

(1964)

Airman 2-c Raymond C. Harris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Harris of Greenbrier, has arrived for duty with an Air Weather Service (AWS) unit at Offutt AFB, Neb.

Airman Harris, a wether observer, previously served at Minot AFB, N.D. His new unit supports the AWS mission of operating a global weather data network in support of U.S. military and civilian flight activities.

He is a graduate of Quitman High School.

Kathy Spencer has joined The Carpet Center as a decorating consultant.

She will specialize in window treatments and will be available for commercial and residential appointments.

Mrs. Spencer and her husband, Roy, reside in Conway and have two children, Joshua and Lacy.

(2004)

Gabriel Esteban, provost at the University of Central Arkansas, and Mayor Tab Townsell read a book to the class at Camp Read-a-Lot in Mashburn Hall at UCA. The program has 24 children in it and is designed to promote their achievements and abilities in the reading and language arts.

In the class were, Spencer Dycus, 7, Shawn Schichtl, 7, Jessica Ferguson, 8, and Dillon Bolton, 9.

Kayla Luck, Brian Merritt and Bolton sang a song they helped write to their guests at the camp.
