Dan Estes, member of the faculty of Arkansas State Teachers College, caught a four and one-half pound bass from Lake Bailey on Petit Jean Mountain, Sunday, Albert Rainey, game warden for Conway and Faulkner counties said. This was the largest bass caught on the mountain this year. — Morrilton Democrat.

Verlon Meda Cowan of Mount Vernon was among the 163 students at Arkansas A&M College who were named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester.

Cowan had a grade point of 4.71.

Navy Hospitalman Apprentice James J. English, a 1988 graduate of Conway High School, recently was graduated from Field Medical Service School at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
