Miss Sarah Cole, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.T. Cole of Conway, has been elected librarian, at the Alabama State College for Women at Monte Vello, Ala. She will begin her work there in September. Miss Cole has been librarian and teacher in the Conway High School for several years. She is a graduate of Hendrix College and the University of Illinois.

Joe W. Newton and his son, Havre Newton, representatives of United Farm Agency, were given special recognition by their company in May for outstanding salesmanship in competition with more than 360 local representatives from coast to coast. The Newtons placed in the top 20 percent in the May contest. The Conway men have represented United Farm Agency at Conway since 1950.

Tony Cardin, driving a Greenbrier Racing Team late-model car, started on the outside front and led all the way in winning the Coca-Cola Spring Classic race Saturday at Forest Hill, La. The victory paid $4,000.
Friday night, Cardin qualified in the pole position and led wire-to-wire in winning a $1,000 race at Chatham, La.
Cardin will participate in a $7,500 race this weekend in Indiana.

The Conway Diamond Cats recently went 6-0 in tournament play to win the USSSA 12-and-under state title. The team, rated No. 1 nationally in its class in USSSA, earlier won the Memorial Day Rock-N-Fire tournament, qualifying for nationals.
In the state tournament, the Diamond Cats outscored their opponents 54-12. Grant Blodgett and Wade Beck were named to the all-tournament team. Members are Matt Lowe, Patrick Mann, Dominique Teague, Wesley Hoover, Matt Russell, Maverick Thomas, Marcus Kordsmeier, Blodgett, Beck, Trevor Maltbia and Jordan Coats, and coaches Gary Thomas, Bill Lowe, Earnett Maltbia and Gary Beck.
