Today, June 12, 1939, is the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Conway Log Cabin, the predecessor of the Log Cabin Democrat, the Log Cabin and the Democrat having consolidated in September 1901.

Cadets who received awards and honors during the awards ceremony held as a part of the recent 120th commencement program at Kemper Military School and College, Boonville, Mo., included Kenny Estes, son of Mrs. Ken L. Estes of Conway.
Estes was designated to the Athletic Honor Society for outstanding participation in high school football. He also was awarded a scroll as the most soldierly “new cadet” in Co. B. He received a certificate as a member of the activity committee of the Arkansas-Louisiana State Club.

Four Greenbrier High School students have been selected by faculty members to attend 1989 Boys State at the University of Central Arkansas and Girls State at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia.
Boys State delegates are Justin Baker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Grady Baker Jr., and Jason Riddle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Riddle.
Girls State delegates are Dondra Robinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Robinson, and Lauralee Wilcox, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe C. Wilcox.

Dr. Nicole M. Lawson, formerly of Greenbrier, has been selected as chief resident of University of South Alabama Family Practice Residency Program in Mobile.
She completed her medical degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock and her undergraduate degree in microbiology at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Lawson of Jonesboro and a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.B. Breeding of Greenbrier.
