Banquet honors All-Arkansas preps teams

Several Conway High athletes will be honored Saturday night in Little Rock during a banquet honoring the All-Arkansas preps teams.

 

Jordan Danberry, who helped lead the Conway girls to a 7A state title, will be recognized as the outstanding female basketball player in the state for 2014.

Other athletes who are part of the overall team selections from Conway are: Colton Jackson, AJ Burton and Matt Cummins from football, and Alexis Tolefree from basketball.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees will be the guest speaker.

Sports Club honors Holderfield

The life buddy Holderfield, the late legendary boxer, will celebrated Monday at the regular monthly meeting of the Arkansas Sports Club.

Each June, the club honors a deceased athlete in the state with the “Legends Luncheon.”

The program will be at the China Town restaurant on Skyline Drive. The meal free to all interested, will begin at 11:30 a.m. The program will begin at 12:05 p.m.

Guest speakers include Ray Rogers, Ozell Nelson, and Karen Holderfield.
