Mrs. J.J. Kane and Mrs. Robert Mosley were hostesses at the Country Club Friday for the weekly afternoon party for members. Many bouquets of flowers decorated the salon and games of bridge were played at four tables. Mrs. J.M. Layton won the high score prize. Mrs. Troy Jones and Mrs. James Irving were special guests. The hostesses served a delicious salad course with cake and coffee at the conclusion of the games.

Myrtle Lou Little, 17, of Guy has been named as Faulkner County Dairy Princess.

The princess is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Little and a student at Guy-Perkins High School. She succeeds Jean Ann Fielder, also of Guy.

The state contest will be held May 23 in Little Rock.

Eighteen Mayflower seniors have been named 1989 honor graduates for achieving a 3.00 grade point average.

They are Scott Ausbrooks, Stephanie Capps, Chris Coffman, Marilyn Copeland, Robert DuVall, Barbara Ealy, Tony Fairchild, Jackie Gauntt, Jana Green, Tammy King, Tanya Lott, Billy McCoy, Allyson Stubbs, Karen Waddle, Ron and Russ Webb, Jo Williams, and Mechelle Williams.

Vilonia’s Phaylan Clements signed a letter of intent to attend and play softball for Central Baptist College as her parents Gregg Clements and Janette Clements, Jason McGinty, CBC Softball coach, and Jon Bradley, Vilonia High School softball coach watched. Clements is the sixth softball signee since Vilonia began its fast-pitch softball program.

Bielema praises Broyles’ legacy

FAYETTEVILLE - Before discussing his Razorbacks at Wednesday’s press conference, Arkansas coach Bret Bielema opened with his thoughts about Frank Broyles, Arkansas’ all-time winningest football coach also a hall of fame athletic director during his 1973-2007 tenure that included moving the UA from the Southwest Conference to the SEC.

Hiland completes OEM investigation; postpones releasing findings

Prosecuting Attorney Cody Hiland completed his investigation of alleged sexual harassment by Office of Emergency Management Director Shelia Bellott to four of her employees but did not present those findings to the Faulkner County Quorum Court on Tuesday.
