Storm Victims Can 'Pre-Register' for Disaster Food Assitance Tuesday

SPECIAL TO THE LOG CABIN

Faulkner County residents affected by the recent severe storms can pre-register for the Disaster-Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) beginning Tuesday the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) announced today.

DHS will park its Mobile Enrollment Units in the parking lot of the Faulkner County DHS office, 1000 E. Siebenmorgen in Conway, beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday. The units will remain on-site and open until 4:30 p.m. each weekday so that residents can pre-register for D-SNAP benefits.

D-SNAP provides replacement SNAP benefits for SNAP recipients who lose food in a disaster AND provides one month of benefits to many households that would not ordinarily qualify but suddenly need food assistance because of a disaster. The program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Anyone who lived in the area and suffered a property loss or interruption of income due to the storms may pre-register for benefits that will be available the week of May 12.
