Between 40 and 50 poultry raisers representing the Conway, Damascus, Greenbrier, Southside, Clinton, Vilonia, Bee Branch, Quitman and Needs Creek communities attended a meeting today at the Faulkner County Courthouse.
The group voted to stage a poultry show in connection with the Faulkner County Fair next fall.

Mr. and Mrs. Amos E. Palmer have begun construction of a new home in Lakeview Acres at Lake Beaverfork.
Their new home will be west of their parents residence and will be a single-level brick veneer with about 3,000 square feet of floor space plus a double garage and double carport.
Two other homes in Lakeview Acres are nearing completion. One is the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Lynch and the other is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Cantrell.

Clifton Ealy of Conway, a former All-AIC wide receiver and graduate assistant at the University of Central Arkansas, has been named defensive coordinator at Delta State University.
Ealy, 30, served three years as a graduate assistant at UCA, working with the wide receivers.
He was all-conference as a receiver for three years and was an honorable mention NAIA All-American in 1977.

Greenbrier’s girls clinched their third straight AAAA-West softball title Tuesday with a doubleheader sweep, 4-1 and 12-1, over Harrison.
The Lady Panthers (21-7) are 13-0 in conference with one league game remaining against Clarksville at home.
Amanda Burgess (19-5) was the winning pitcher in both games, allowing four hits the first game and six the second.
