Christian friends, I greet you in the name of Jesus. No other name is greater than the name Jesus: our Lord and our Savior.
Christians will celebrate the greatest weekend in Christianity this weekend. We deem it great because of Jesus, who sacrificed His life so that we may live. If it had not been for His death, burial and resurrection, then His miraculous birth would be meaningless and powerless.
Humanity was an occupant of death and separated from God. Jesus conquered death for us so that we may have life in Him. Moreover, He brought humanity back in fellowship with God with His death that paid the atonement price for sin.
Although we do not exchange gifts on Easter, we are not giftless, for we have received the greatest gift ever — a divine gift a gift of love: Jesus.
John 3:16 reminds us of this gift when he says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son …” John goes on to help us to obtain this gift by adding what we must do when he said, “… that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
When God resurrected Jesus, He displayed His love. This weekend, from Good Friday to Easter, is a display of love through death.
The death of Jesus was good for us. Hebrews 12:2 says, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame…” Jesus kept His focus on the good that would come from His death instead of focusing on the ones who were killing Him. He did not focus on His pains or His problems instead; He focused on the “joy that was set before Him”: Saving humanity. Attention Christian man and woman, are you more focused on your pains and problems than you are on someone else’s salvation? What if you think the person is your enemy?
The death of Jesus causes the blood to cover us. Exodus 12:7 illustrates the covering we have in the blood of Jesus. Just as the Hebrew people applied the blood of a slain lamb on the doorpost of their homes, causing the death angel to spare them, we too have a spiritual victory when we apply the blood of Jesus to our hearts through salvation. Only the blood of Jesus is efficacious enough to continue to cover souls over 2,000 years later. The blood of Jesus covers everyone. Regardless of the good morals we may possess or the plenteous alms we may give, it is insignificant in comparison to the sacrificial blood of Jesus.
Thank God for Jesus. The death burial and resurrection of Jesus benefits everyone who accepts Him. Jesus is not reserved for only those who grew up in a church environment , He is also there for those who have never set foot in a church. We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God, but God shows His grace towards us through Jesus. Furthermore, He did this before we accepted Him, in fact, He did so while we were His enemies. We are grateful that God does not demand us to be good so that we can have Him, but aids us in being good since we have Him.
Until the next time: Know that this day of death was a day of love for us all.
May the God of Glory keep you forever.
