Mrs. Fred I Cairns entertained with a prettily arranged luncheon at her home on Locust Avenue Tuesday in honor of her mother, Mrs. James B. Reed of Spur, Texas, who is her house guest. A delicious menu was served in three courses on one long and two small tables, each laid with white damask linens and centered with Irish, spirea and sweetheart roses.

Kenny Hoyt of St. Joseph has signed a basketball letter-of-intent with the Arkansas College Highlanders at Batesville.

Hoyt was signed by Arkansas College coach Dick Winningham.

The 6-3 Hoyt was center on a St. Joseph team that finished second in District 5N.

Hoyt is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hoyt.

David E. Johnson of Conway, a student at Baylor University, has been elected treasurer of the Baylor student body for the 1989-90 academic year.

Johnson, son of Clint and Ellen Johnson of Conway, is a 1987Conway high School graduate. He is an English major and is a rising junior. At Baylor, he has served as a Welcome Week Orientation leader and has been named to the Dean’s List.

Deputy Rick Beavers and Deputy Christina Ross share in the care of a 1995 Pontiac Trans Am that was reconditioned for the department’s use after the vehicle was seized. The sports car now has emergency lights, a communications system and high powered four-speaker stereo system.
