(1939)

Mrs. Harry Adams entertained a group of young people at dinner Monday evening in honor of the 13th birthday anniversary of her daughter, Margaret Louise. A dainty menu in courses was served on one long and several small tables. The long table was centered with a decorated cake topped with 13 pink lighted candles and surrounded by flowers. The small tables were centered with baskets of iris and spirea.

50 years ago

(1964)

Sheri Rea, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rea, celebrated her sixth birthday with a party at the Bluebird Kindergarten Thursday morning. Cake decorated as a yellow school, ice cream and punch were served. Birthday hats were presented to each guest. Favors of jump ropes and plastic soldiers were given. Mrs. Re took pictures of the group.

The University of Central Arkansas golf team finished fourth yesterday in an Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference golf match played at Rebsamen Park in Little Rock.

UCA’s top scorers were Scott Felts with a 79, John Huban with an 80 and Jim Flanagin and Trey Rutledge with 82s.

Katie Bailey of Conway was named Miss Lake Dardanelle on Saturday night.

Bailey is an international business major at the University of Mississippi. She is a graduate of Conway High School.

Rural Fire Program to host fire show Oct. 28

The Arkansas Forestry Commission is hosting the annual Rural Fire Protection (RFP) Fire Show on Saturday, October 28, in Greenbrier at 20 Industrial Boulevard from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. All Arkansas firefighters and families are invited to attend the annual event held to honor fire crews for their partnership in the suppression and prevention of wildfires.
