(1939)

Two Hendrix College boxers will enter the state A.A.U. tournament at Hartman early next month, Assistant Coach George Wells of the mitt team said today. Rodney Shaw, 179, will enter the heavyweight division, and Bonar Moore will fight in the 160-pound class. Both boys have won their last three fights in matches against North Little Rock and Arkansas Tech fighters. Winners in the Hartman tournament will be sent to the national tournament in San Francisco.

Carrell E. White, 40, recently became mail carrier for Rural route No. 1 from the Vilonia Post Office. White is a former supervisor at the Baldwin Piano Co. factory in Conway. He placed No. 1 on a list of eligibles following an examination called when Clyde S. Hogan retired from the service.

Marlene Guyer, Sondra Winston, Kim Anderson and Kim Hall, all of Conway, visited recently with Arkansas First Lady Hillary Clinton to kick off the Arkansas Breast Screening Project sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

The Conway Lady Wampus Cats stayed undefeated in the AAAAA-Central with a 2-0 victory over Bryant on Monday at Lady Cat Field. Jessica Sanders pitched a complete game one-hitter scattering one walk and six strikeouts over seven innings. She improved to 11-0 on the season with the win.
