Faulkner Sports RounduP: Mayflower baseball loses to LR Christian; Hendrix softball

MAYFLOWER — Little Rock Christian took a 7-2 victory over Mayflower on Thursday in the first round of the Mayflower Invitational.

 

The Eagles (6-2) jumped to their only lead on an RBI double by Tyler Herrin in the first.

The Warriors scored in the third on two singles and an RBI by Austin Ply. Little Rock Christian added three more in the fourth on two Eagle errors and a Brock Ferguson RBI. The Eagles closed the gap to 7-2 in the sixth on an RBI single by Drew Duncan.

Nate Alberius pitched a four-hitter for the Warriors. Herrin, Duncan Michael Post and Jordan Burns had the Eagle hits.

HENDRIX SOFTBALL

DECATUR, Ga. — The Hendrix College softball team split a doubleheader against Agnes Scott College on Thursday night. The Warriors (11-9) took game one, 6-3, but the host Scotties (15-13) won the nightcap, 9-4.

Courtney Riley went 4-for-4 with a run scored in the first game and Sydney Ozersky was 2 for 3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Shelby Anderson also had two hits, including a double, and scored twice. Kayla Patton (8-4) earned the win, allowing seven hits, three runs and a walk.

Michaela Larabee, Ozersky and Riley each had two hits for the Warriors.
