Jed Davis takes Marion job

Jed Davis, who led Mayflower to becoming a consistent Class 3A power, is the new head football coach at Class 6A Marion.

Saturday was his first day on the job at the northeast Arkansas school.

“I’m excited to meet the coaches and their wives,” he tweeted. “I am pumped about the future of Patriot football.”

Marion athletic director Paul Johnston said, “We couldn’t be more excited about the hiring of Jed Davis. We feel he’s an excellent fit for our program here.”

At Mayflower, Davis developed one of the most prolific offenses in Arkansas football. The Eagles were 6-5 last season and finished with a No. 12 ranking by Hootens.com.

Generalz win baseball tourney

The Arkansas Generalz, a Conway 9AA youth baseball team, won the Chicken Express March Madness tournament defeating the Russellville River Valley Aces, 8-4, and Maumelle Bulldogs 12-0. Team members are Kyler Spencer, Jered Sanders, Lucas Law, Caden Kristofik, Jake

Hill, Zach Tucker, Cole Glover, Daxton Dismuke, Max Longing, Troy Wiseman, & Preston Oakes. The team is sponsored by Sonic Drive-In of Conway, Kelli Small of Pam McDowell Properties, Drs. Fiddler and Fulmer D.D.S., and Conway Children’s Clinic.
