Step into my den, pull up a comfy chair and a cup of tea and let’s chat.
It is so good to see spring arriving in many ways: rain, crocus popping up, buds bulging from trees and people leaving their houses to shop and meet/greet. Strange how cold weather really isolates us, isn’t it?
Activities have really picked up around Greenbrier now that weather is allowing new construction to begin too. There is talk of ground breaking on two new major developments: the Baptist Health Center next to McDonald’s and the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Spring Valley Road. I have also been by the new water plant coming to Greenbrier, and they hope to have all the concrete poured this week and then start on the internal hardware. They are still estimating a July completion date.
Hats off to Jerry Boyer for putting in his two-mile walk each day. He said, “Using the Runkeeper app, I completed 2.6 miles for Mayor Cotton’s 107-mile challenge. I’m getting closer. There is still enough time.” Are you keeping up with the Mayor’s challenge to walk each day?
Prayers and good wishes go out to Bill Putnam and Dana Taylor — both struggling hard to get well.
Congratulations to Marilyn Battles of First Service Bank in Greenbrier. She was selected as the Volunteer of the Year by the Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce. Battles has been instrumental in the “Bookcase for Every Child” project since 2011. I sure wish I could tell you the date for this year’s project, but it seems stalled this year.
