Under provisions of a bill by Sellers of Conway County that became a law several days ago, the fee for marriage licenses was increased by 50 cents, from $3.10 to $3.60, it was learned today at the office of County Clerk C.E. Gentry. The fee, which formerly was $3.60, was reduced to the lower amount several years ago.

Sellers’ bill also provided several other changes in fees to be charged by the clerk.

Three St. Joseph students were named finalists yesterday in an oratorical contest sponsored by the Conway Optimist Club.

They were Stan Dickerson, 13, son of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Dickerson; Larry Lachowsky, 13, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold J. Lachowsky, and Eddie Tyler, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Tyler.

Fifteen boys participated in the St. Joseph preliminary round.

Express Male, a men’s fashion store located at 211 Farris Rd., recently closed its doors to reopen at 10 a.m. tomorrow at a new location in the Conway Towne Center. Co-owner Larry Rogers said the new location will offer twice the floor space of the present facility, allowing the business to expand considerably its line of merchandise.

Julia Lee Moore Elementary’s fourth-grade Red Boys team won the championship in their division recently in a basketball tournament sponsored by the Faulkner County Boys and Girls Club. The team was undefeated during the tournament. Members are Zack Conque, Jake Fitts, Layton McCoy, Mitchell Shiew, Alex Smith, Miles Stevenson, Hayden Strickland, and Tyler Ratliff, and coaches are Kyle Ratliff and Steve Shiew.

Arkansas girl found dead after mom, great-uncle killed

MENA (AP) — One of two Arkansas siblings reported missing after their mother’s body was discovered in a creek was found dead on Friday, a day after another relative was found dead, and teams are still searching for the other child, investigators said.
