Mr. and Mrs. Ben F. Davis of Bruno announce the engagement of their daughter, Betty, to Glen Harold Osborn of Conway. Mr. Osborn is a son of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Osborn, also of Conway.

Miss Davis is a graduate of the Bruno High School and is employed at the Sears Catalog Sales Office in Conway.

Mr. Osborn was graduated from Conway High School and is employed by Gulf Oil-Moore Butane Co. The wedding will occur April 5 at the Cadron Ridge Baptist Church near Conway.

Mable Strandlund, a member of Preceptor Mu chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, was one of seven women honored Saturday as Beta Sigma Phi’s valentine queens.

She and her husband, Richard Strandlund, have two children, Cindy and Brian. Mrs. Strandlund is employed as secretary to the dean of the College of Fine arts and Applied Sciences at the University of Central Arkansas.

Optimist Arkansas District immediate past governor Sonja Parsons presented Barbara Perrigo, president of the Twilight Optimist Club with a pair of awards during the Optimists’ recent joint meeting. The Twilight Club received the Club of Honor and Distinguished Club awards for their performance over the past year.

Rural Fire Program to host fire show Oct. 28

The Arkansas Forestry Commission is hosting the annual Rural Fire Protection (RFP) Fire Show on Saturday, October 28, in Greenbrier at 20 Industrial Boulevard from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. All Arkansas firefighters and families are invited to attend the annual event held to honor fire crews for their partnership in the suppression and prevention of wildfires.
