The Sideline: Conway hosts junior tourney, Hendrix baseball and UCA tennis

Conway will host the Central Arkansas Junior High Conference Tournament Feb. 19-22.

Games are scheduled to tip off at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 19. On that day the boys will play in Wampus Cat Gymnasium and the girls will play in the Buzz Bolding Arena.

On Thursday, the boys will play in the Buzz Bolding Arena and the girls in Wampus Cat Gymnasium.

The championship games will be in the Buzz Bolding Arena on Saturday with the girls tipping off at noon followed by the boys game at 1:30 p.m.

opens season

The Hendrix baseball team will open the season this weekend with four games at Frisco, Texas.

The Warriors will play Puget Sound, Whitman College, Hardin-Simmons and UT-Dallas in the tourney that runs through Sunday.

downs Harding

The University of Central Arkansas women’s tennis team went to 1-1 Wednesday with a 6-1 victory over Harding.

Central Arkansas swept all three doubles matches.

Allison Murphy and Kelsey Williams took the No. 1 match, 6-3, while Simona Horsikyan and Cassidy Crawford won the No. 2 match, 6-1.

Krizia Buck and Sasha Ruocco completed the sweep by winning the No. 3 match, 6-1.

In singles play, Simona Horsikyan defeated Ali Rowden of Greenbrier, 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 match.

Cassidy Crawford, Kristina Horsikyan, Sasha Ruocco and Krizia Buck also won matches.
