The first snowstorm of the 1938-39 winter season occurred at Conway this afternoon. Rain mixed with sleet fell throughout the forenoon and about 1 o’clock the precipitation changed into snow, which was heavy for an hour. At 2 o’clock the snowfall had about ceased. Little remained on the ground, due its rain-soaked condition, but roofs and automobile tops were covered.
The temperature fell only slightly during the day, after a minimum of 39 registered at 7 a.m. Precipitation up to that hour amounted to 2.09 inches.
