Total enrollment at Arkansas State Teachers College for the 1938-39 school year has reached a new high of 772 students, Col. H.L. McAlister, president, announced today. Several additional students are expected to register for second semester work soon to boost the year’s total even higher, he said

The present enrollment at the college shows a substantial increase in comparison to last year’s mark of 688. In 1936-37, the enrollment was 686.

Six seniors at Conway High School will compete for the title of Wampus Cat yearbook queen in a contest Feb. 13 at the high school auditorium. They include Karen Black, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milmo L. Black; Sue Winters, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Winters; Brenda Lea, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Gardner; Carolyn Fagan, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Fagan; Sharion Starkey, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Starkey; and Marilyn Woodard, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Woodard. Miss Fagan was an entry in last year’s pageant.

Jordan Michael is excited to announce the arrival of his baby brother, Jeremy Brian Craig.

He was born Jan. 25, 1989, at Conway Regional Hospital. He weighed 6 pounds, 5 1/2 ounces. Proud parents are Samuel and Deborah Craig of Conway. Proud grandparents are frank and Clotee Robinson and Ora Craig


City considers rezonings, more

The Conway City Council will consider rezoning properties, reclassifying a city position and rebidding a project during its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Russell L. “Jack” Roberts District Court Building.
