Hendrix names lacrosse assistant coach

Anthony Biondo is the new assistant men’s lacrosse coach at Hendrix College, replacing Ben Whitcraft who left after two and a half years to become the head coach at Defiance College in Ohio.

Biondo comes to Hendrix after spending the 2013 season as an assistant at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia. While with the Tigers, he coached goalkeepers and face-offs under legendary head coach Ray Rostan.

“We are very fortunate to have coach Biondo on our staff, as he possesses a wealth of knowledge, is a great role model and motivator, and has a proven track record of success in the NCAA DIII level at Hampden-Sydney in the extremely competitive ODAC,” said Hendrix coach Curt Foxx. “Coach Biondo truly embodies the Hendrix College motto of ‘Unto the Whole Person’ with his positive, detail-oriented, and relentless approach of making our students achieve their best academically, athletically, and in the community.”

Biondo spent time working with development programs in Florida, including Orlando All-Star Lacrosse, the Florida Fighting Possums and Team Florida Lacrosse.

The Warriors’ first game will be on Feb. 8 at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.
