Paula Matthews, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Matthews, was named Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow yesterday in an assembly program a Conway High School.

Miss Matthews was chosen on the basis of a standardized test given by General Mills.

She will represent CHS in state competition for a $1,500 scholarship.

Connie Trent of Conway began a transformation into a clown yesterday for first-grade students at Sallie Cone Elementary School. Mrs. Trent, a professional clown and one of the participants at the school’s annual Enrichment Day, demonstrated clown makeup application and told children that clowns are just people underneath the paint. The day featured visitors from the fields of science, medicine, the arts and other professions.

Three Conway students have been named to the honor roll at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia for the fall 2003 semester.

Aaron Caldwell, Christopher Delong and Trista McBroome achieved the designation.

Bielema maneuvers to get receiver on scholarship track

ROGERS - From Arkansas coach Bret Bielema’s address to the press before joining some of his assistants golfing among former Razorbacks and Razorback Foundation members at Monday’s Northwest Arkansas Razorback Club event at Shadow Valley Country Club, it was learned the Razorbacks have added a receiver but won’t have one of their new scholarship defensive backs practicing when preseason drills commence Thursday.
