Centerville School District No. 28 today received $2,500 from the state equalizing fund and Guy-Perkins district No. 34 received $1,000, county Treasurer Neel Webb said today.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Favre of Conway announce the engagement of their daughter, Amelia Josephine, to James Leo Briggler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Aloys Briggler of St. Vincent.

The wedding will be an event of Feb. 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church here.

Unlike lightning, fire can strike the same place twice.

A year ago today, downtown Conway suffered a second devastating fire, destroying Premiere Tuxedo, Mary’s Boutique and Azmat Oriental Rugs.

The fire occurred merely four months after a fire destroyed Ed Camp’s Men’s Store and damaged an estimated $1 million in damage, according to Fire Chief Bart Castleberry.
