The Greenbrier Panthers gathered around their coach, Doyce Winningham, and the championship trophy of the Arkansas State Teachers College tournament after they won it Saturday night by defeating Sheridan, 60-46. Team members were Dewayne Nash, Scotty Cantrell, Phil Benton, Jim Rollins, John Goodrich, Larry Joe Roberts, Johnny Kellar, Robert Arnold, Charles Parsons and Kenneth Hart.

Robert D. Nabholz of Conway, chairman of Nabholz Construction Corp., was named Executive of the Year during Thursday night’s first Arkansas Business of the Year Awards at the Excelsior Hotel in Little Rock.

Nabholz was chosen from five finalists in the executive of the year category. Charles Morgan of Acxiom Corp. in Conway also was a finalist.

Nabholz will celebrate his company’s 40th anniversary this year. The company ranks as Arkansas’ largest building contractor.

St. Joseph swept Pangburn in senior high basketball Tuesday night as the boys took a 55-26 win, while the girls won, 51-39.

UCA’s Anderson SLC’s Student-Athlete of the Year

University of Central Arkansas junior volleyball player Samantha Anderson has been named the Southern Conference’s Student-Athlete of the Year, while senior Megan Nash earned First Team all-conference honors and sophomore Elizabeth Armstrong was named to the Second Team.
