The Sideline: Big night for Taylor Gault and Silver Gloves tournament

Gault scores 27 in UALR victory

LITTLE ROCK — Former Conway High star Taylor Gault scored 17 points in the first half alone and Taylor Ford reached a career milestone as the Trojans wiped South Alabama from the ranks of undefeated Sun Belt teams with a convincing 61-42 victory at the Jack Stephens Center.


Gault finished the game with 27 points, four more than her previous best this season and a high mark for anyone on the team this year.

UALR has now won seven consecutive games against South Alabama and four in a row in Little Rock.

Silver Gloves regional in NLR

The Region 6 Silver Gloves Championship boxing tournament will be Thursday, Jan. 16, through Saturday Jan. 18, at the North Little Rock Community Center, 2700 Willow.

State champions representing Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas will compete. Champions from Saturday’s bouts will advance to the Silver Gloves National Tournament in Independence, Mo., Jan. 29 through Feb. 1.

The bouts begin at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with bouts beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students.

The Arkansas Silver Gloves Boxing Association and the North Little Rock Parks and Recreation Center are hosts. For more information call the Community Center at 501-791-8541.
