(1939)

Two bowling teams are tied for the lead in the swing league at the Playhouse. They are the Alligators and the Gas House Gang, both having won two games and lost one. The Singeroos and Jitterbugs have won three and lost three each. Winning one and losing two are the Bears and Cats.

50 years ago

(1964)

Kay Troutman, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O.L. Troutman, today was named to the McCall’s (magazine) Teen Fashion Board.

The announcement was made by Mrs. LeRoy Summers, home economics instructor at Conway High School, is an assembly meeting.

Miss Troutman was nominated by Mrs. Summers and as a board member will be consulted on current styles of teenagers. She will also share in benefits from McCall’s, including free access to patterns, bulletins, etc.

(1989)

Vilonia’s wrestling team split two matches over the weekend at Gosnell.

Gosnell led the Eagles 32-6 at one point, then held on for a 42-36 victory in a conference match. In non-conference action, Vilonia defeated Hayti, Mo., 51-18.

Winning matches for Vilonia were Tom Decker, Rick Davis, Kevin Caldwell, Bryan McKee, Mike Jaco, Tim and Paul smith and Gene Martin.

Vilonia’s junior high teams advanced in a pair of thrilling semifinal contests in the Faulkner County Junior High Tournament here Thursday.

The Junior Eagles survived double overtime to defeat rival Greenbrier 57-54. Vilonia’s girls held off Conway White 38-36.
