Brittany Knight won her first race, the tadpole Trot, when she was 12, and she’s been hooked on running ever since.

Knight, a senior at Vilonia, followed a runner-up finish last year with seventh place in the Class AAAA Cross Country Championships at Oaklawn Park.

She was 3.5 seconds off making all-state all four years; instead she settled for a two-time honor.

For her performance, Knight has been selected the Log Cabin Democrat’s Faulkner County Girls Cross Country Athlete of the Year.
